Today, dental implants are most common to replace missing teeth. The implants are made of titanium overlapped bolts.
What are the advantages of the implant?
- Teeth can be replaced without the need to shave off or load any adjacent teeth
- Implants can be placed in almost any areas due to missing teeth
- It is closest to the natural tooth from an aesthetic point of view
- It does not feel unnatural, and it is made of material well tolerated by the body
The surgery is always preceded by a consultation, where after a thorough health check, your doctor decides on the possibility of implants. Dental implantation is performed by local anesthesia. If the implant is preceded by tooth extraction, it may be necessary to wait for a few weeks between the two interventions. This will be determined at the time by your dentist, as it is important to place the implant in healthy tissue. The available bone may not be sufficient, in which case it is necessary to make sure there is enough space for the implant to be inserted into. This intervention is called a sinus lift. If there is not enough bone below the sinus, then bone replacement is performed. Generally, it is recommended to wait at least 4 months before the implants are placed. Following implant placement, sutures may be removed after 10-14 days. After this, 3-month healing time is needed until the implant stabilizes. Finally, the aesthetic head is attached to the implant.
Diseases that make it difficult or exclude implant placement:
- blood clotting disorders
- taking some medicines
- previous radiotherapy
- heavy smoking
